Our Representative Payee unit is looking for adaptable, efficient and team-oriented individuals to join our team now!

Perform advanced, specialized financial support for consumers on your case load and complex clerical work; in addition to providing coordination and consultation to case managers and support staff. This work requires independent judgment, initiative and bookkeeping/budgeting knowledge while completing work accurately and on a timely basis.
Occasional telework may be available after successful completion of the training period.
Essential Duties
Provide ongoing budget counseling to adults, within the guidelines set forth by the Social Security Administration, for the chronically mentally ill (CMI), alcohol and other drug addiction (AODA), Long Term Care consumers.

Problem solve daily with consumers and their advocates regarding budget issues and other concerns.

Prepare, distribute, order and/or verify consumer funds and monthly expenditures per the budget established for the consumer.

Provide Social Security, consumers and other agencies with financial information to update documents/systems in order to maintain consumer’s eligibility for services and benefits.

Verify consumer benefits they are eligible for are received; communicate with appropriate agency if there is a need to apply for additional benefits.

Analyze and interpret information of a complex nature pertaining to the department in which employed.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with both internal and external customers in person, via phone, email and in writing.

Gather/organize consumer financial information to assist with income tax and Wisconsin Homestead Credit preparation for the consumer.

Keep current on pertinent county, state, and federal regulations, which pertain to the Representative Payee Program

Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions in order to fulfill the duties of the position.

Responsible to issue/mail checks as requested by budget counselors.

Responsible to accurately deposit consumer funds into their account.

Obtain information from various sources internally and externally in order to complete forms, documents, records, various services etc.

Maintain spreadsheets as needed for the department or for consumer information.

Maintain accurate and complete consumer information.

Assist and back up other team members and/or departments as required.

Adhere to the confidentiality policy of the department in addition to Federal and State privacy laws.
Annually update/maintain job process and duties.
Attend required meetings and training per Supervisor/Management requests.

Perform related functions as assigned for Human Services
Minimum Qualifications Required
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma including or supplemented by accounting/budgeting knowledge, plus two or more years of accounts payable experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job It is necessary to have experience and knowledge in Word and Excel. This work requires independent judgment, initiative and the ability to work with various personalities/abilities of consumers while completing work accurately and on a timely basis.

Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License

Knowledge of various possible benefits for consumers

Knowledge of general office practices and skill in the application of those practices

Knowledge of and ability to utilize a computer and the required software

Knowledge of accounting/budgeting

Ability to operate standard office equipment

Ability to perform full data entry functions at a rate of 80 net keystrokes per minute

Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions

Ability to make basic arithmetic calculations

Ability to learn and apply specialized knowledge and skills of the department

Ability to assume responsibility and work independently

Ability to maintain emotional stability in stress situations

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public

Ability to maintain records and reports accurately

Ability to maintain the confidential nature of consumer and business information
