The full-time [35 hours per week] Veterans Service Officer is responsible for informing, advising and assisting veterans and their dependents to secure all possible entitlements from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs [VA], the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs [WDVA] and all other agencies to which they may be eligible for benefits. This individual serves as an advocate providing referral and follow-up services to clients who need such assistance. Responsible for all local public relations and outreach to ensure veterans are adequately informed and maintains relationships with all county veteran service organizations and other partners that support the Veterans Service Office.

Applicants must be a Wisconsin resident who served on active duty and is an honorably discharged veteran as set forth in Chapter 45.01 [12][a] through [d] and 45.02, Wisconsin State Statutes. An Associate Degree in Business Management/Leadership, Human Services or related field and three years of work experience in a field of customer service or office setting or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities is required. Applicants must pass an FBI background check and become accredited within one year of being hired through training provided by the VA and WDVA.
