Oneida County Department of Social Services is a Trauma Informed Agency that empowers, educates and supports agency staff to provide services in a caring, compassionate and safe environment.

Oneida County is accepting applications for a current full time opening for an Adult Protective Services Social Worker and to establish an eligibility list to fill future Social Worker vacancies up to one year. Therefore, applicants who will meet the eligibility requirements within one year are encouraged to apply and forward new information as it becomes available. Starting 2022 hourly rate of $25.02 to $28.59, based on prior experience, plus generous fringe benefit package.

This position is for an Adult Protective Services Social Worker. Primary duties include responding to allegations of abuse, financial exploitation, and neglect and self-neglect of adults over the age of 18. Adult Protective Service Social Workers are also responsible for initiating Guardianship and Protective Placement court actions and monitoring of court ordered Protective Placement and Protective Service orders. The work involves determination of client needs, provision of appropriate services, and resource referrals as needed. Position provides opportunities for growth and learning experiences. Supervision is provided. The position may also requires limited 24-hour on-call duties (approximately 30 days per year).

Qualified applicant must have a Bachelor degree in Social Work or related field, and be certified by the State of WI as a Certified Social Worker or eligible for certification. We will consider applicants with a training certificate or who are eligible for a training certificate. Must be able to: gather, access and use information in developing case plans; ability to engage families; plan and provide appropriate and effective referrals; knowledge of social work principles and practices; knowledge of laws, regulations, and practices pertaining to social service programs; good oral and written communication skills; ability to maintain accurate records; strong computer skills; have a valid WI Driver’s License; be able to type 40 wpm.
