ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively engage all Björklunden constituents including donors, prospective students, volunteers, parents of students, etc. to promote a positive attitude towards Björklunden and Lawrence University.

Direct onsite aspects of the LU Student Weekend Programs.
Assist with hosting day groups, retreats, luncheons, and other scheduled events that require meal preparation, cleaning, and guest engagement.

Serve as primary weekend contact and ensure students, parents, vendors, visitors, employees and customers are handled in a professional and courteous manner.

Perform housekeeping/kitchen/serving duties as needed.
Be available to assist Maintenance Coordinator with general maintenance and landscaping duties.
Enter registrations for the seminar program through Alumni Q and Access Program, maintain, and troubleshoot Björklunden AV equipment, internet routers, and office computers.

Conduct lodge and chapel tours for guests and visitors.
Assist with training, instruction, and supervision of student workers.

Work closely with Björklunden volunteers.
Serve as a back-up for other Björklunden team members as appropriate.

Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The Staff Assistant will work collaboratively with all members of the Björklunden team. Must be able to provide excellent customer service to all members of the campus community, to respond to and work with students, faculty, staff and visitors in a professional and courteous manner, and to work independently and with team members.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must understand and appreciate the value of a liberal arts education.

Possess the ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, prioritization and follow-up skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills: concise, articulate, and confident.

Knowledge of housekeeping and kitchen duties and standards strongly preferred.

Key attributes: self-motivated, team-oriented, reliability, collegiality, flexibility.

Must be available for after hours, weekend, and call-in duties.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb a stepladder and use hand tools.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Experience in a hospitality or customer service based industry required.

Prior experience in the food service industry desired.
Associates degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
Experience working with young adults preferred.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Must have successful completion of criminal record check, driving record check and reference checks.

Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s license and ability to meet University driving standards.
