Clerk/Typist II – Clerk of Courts
Job Summary
Performs varied and increasingly responsible clerical, scanning and typing work of a routine nature. Responsible for conducting transactions with the public – in person, in writing and over the phone.
Essential Duties
Performs receptionist and/or counter duties answering inquiries of a general non-restricted nature or refers inquiries to proper official or department.
Obtains information from the public for the retrieval of documents, records, etc.
Retrieve court files for weekly calendars for 8 branches and maintain accurate/complete files.
Schedule court hearings in front of commissioners
Process documents filed by attorneys, Judges and Commissioners
Prepare order and paperwork for presentence investigations and forward to DOC
Process court appointments of counsel
Prepare notice of intent to pursue post conviction relief
Verifies and processes a variety of documents, forms, reports, etc.
Types reports, correspondence, dockets and statistical data from recorded, written or printed material.
Reproduces multiple copies of work to include to the media, attorneys, DA office, other Counties, police departments
Scans court documents to the file.
Performs filing and searching.
Maintains and updates Records in CCAP
Performs related functions as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma including or supplemented by a course in typing; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of general office procedures.
Knowledge of business English and spelling.
Knowledge of simple bookkeeping.
Knowledge of CCAP, court and legal documents
Knowledge of and ability to utilize a computer and the required software, desktop and bulk scanners.
Ability to follow simple written and oral instructions.
Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment, desktop and bulk scanner.
Ability to accept responsibility and exercise independent judgement.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.
Ability to work the required hours of the position.
