Job Summary
Assists the Child Support Specialist in the enforcement/establishment of child support and medical support orders. Responds to telephone and over the counter inquiries as relates to the Child Support Agency and child support matters. Works with the Child Support Specialist and under the general supervision of the Child Support Supervisor to review, prioritize and monitor work list items using Kids Information Data System (KIDS).

Please note: Bi-lingual Spanish speaking ability is highly desired for this role.
Essential Duties
Analyzes and interprets information from various worklists on the KIDS system.

Obtains information from program participants as it relates to a child support case.

Answers questions from public and other agencies of a general and specialized non-restricted nature or refers inquiries to proper agency or staff person.

Assists in the enforcement/establishment of child support and medical support orders.

Updates/queries KIDS information as necessary.

Interprets KIDS worklists items.

Disposes events on KIDS.

Closes cases under direction of Child Support Specialist.

Conducts necessary investigation of various reports on KIDS.

Monitors cases for possible next step functions.

Reviews correspondence and answers if appropriate.

Identifies and corrects various interface demographic errors between KIDS and Client Assistance for Re-employment and Economic Support (CARES).

Updates information on County mainframe computer.

Provides answers to inquiries regarding service and functions of child support agency.

Reproduces multiple copies of work.

Maintains records and files.

Prepares letters and documents using KIDS Document Generation.

Performs related functions as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Education and Experience:

High School Diploma, plus 2 years office experience in a child support office or a legal environment; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Bi-lingual Spanish speaking ability desired.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of general office skills, practices, procedures and equipment.

Knowledge of legal terminology.

Knowledge of data processing, data entry, and word processing.

Knowledge of and ability to utilize a computer and the required software.

Skilled in strong organizational techniques and practices.

Skilled in telecommunication techniques and practices.

Bilingual Spanish speaking ability desired.

Ability to make independent decisions and meet deadlines.

Ability to prioritize and categorize child support cases.

Ability to deal with hostile and confrontational clients.

Ability to perform full data entry functions at a rate of 80 net keystrokes per minute.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.

Ability to interview and obtain information through routine investigative procedures for the public.

Ability to interpret complex reports from KIDS.

Ability to learn and apply the specialized knowledge and terminology of the Child Support Department.

Ability to work the required hours of the position.
