Social Worker – CPS Initial Assessment

Do you have a passion for helping others? If so, the Monroe County Dept. of Human Services Children and Family Services Unit might have the job for you. We are looking for a full-time Child Protective Services Initial Assessment Social Worker. Successful candidates will have Bachelor’s degree with major in social work or related field, Wisconsin certification as social worker or eligible for certification, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proficient computer abilities.

Our CPS Initial Assessment Social Worker completes comprehensive initial assessments with recommendation for any needed interventions. This position is responsible for interviewing family members, collaterals, and referral sources using the trauma informed care principles; observing home conditions and completing safety assessments; and providing information relating to programs and services in the community and making referrals as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in engagement and family assessment, as well as have the ability to build rapport and have compassion for the families that are being served.

Starting salary for this position is $43,680 – $45,760. Monroe County offers an exceptional benefit package to include health with vision, dental, term life, Wisconsin Retirement System, and more.
