Preliminary Redistricting Timeline

On Friday, July 9, 2021, the Governor vetoed Assembly Bill 369, timeline for local redistricting. WCA, the League of Wisconsin Municipalities and the Wisconsin Towns Association continue to work together to find a workable solution for all local governments on this issue.

At the July 19, 2021 County Leadership Meeting, there was an update on redistricting from WCA Government Affairs Staff and WCA General Counsel Andy Phillips. In addition, Legislative Technology Services Bureau (LTSB) GIS Analyst & Outreach Coordinator Zach Robinson and League of Wisconsin Municipalities Deputy Executive Director Curt Witynski presented.

A preliminary redistricting timeline was presented at the meeting from WCA General Counsel which can be found in the below link. Disclaimer: The dates contained within the Timeline are merely suggestions based upon the Association’s understanding of the anticipated release date for the Census data and how the process for redistricting operates under current statute. With the exception of the November deadline for the publication of the Type A Notice related to nomination papers, none of the other dates in the Timeline are established in statute.”

County participants, as well local officials from cities, towns and villages, joined in on the call.
