Oneida County is currently accepting applications for THREE Limited Term Employee (LTE) Watercraft Inspector positions with the Oneida County Land & Water Conservation Department’s Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Program for the summer of 2022. The primary duty of these positions will be to conduct Clean Boats, Clean Waters watercraft inspections, provide boater education, and participate in statewide AIS educational campaigns. Applicants will gain experience in AIS prevention, monitoring, management, educational outreach, and water resource stewardship.

Position pays $13.00 per hour; no benefits provided. The following two shifts are available:

◦ Thursday – Sunday, 8 hours per day for a total of 32 hours per week (2 positions available)
◦ Saturday – Sunday, 6.25 hours per day for a total of 12.5 hours per week (1 position available)

Employment begins on or before May 23 through Labor Day. Applicants will be required to work weekends throughout the summer, including holiday weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day). Work schedules and employment period may vary, with some flexibility available.

Qualified individuals must be 18 or older, have a high school degree or equivalent, and a valid WI driver’s license. A reliable vehicle and proof of vehicle insurance is required. Mileage is not reimbursed. Must be comfortable working outside and independently; have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and courteously with the public; make good independent decisions based on practices, rules and procedure. Prior experience with AIS or the Clean Boats, Clean Waters program is preferred, but not necessary. Training is provided.
