Veterans Benefits Specialist
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to advise and assist U.S. military service members, Veterans, and their families in securing eligible benefits and entitlements. The work is performed under the direction of the County Veterans Service Officer (CVSO).
Normal work hours for this position are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s Degree, and three years benefit administration experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Computer experience required. Veteran, or knowledge of the various benefits, services, and federal and state laws/regulations governing Veteran’s benefits is preferred.
COMPENSATION / BENEFITS:
The 2021 wage range for this full-time (80 hours bi-weekly), non-exempt position is $19.63 per hour to $26.77 per hour (step 20). The expected starting hourly wage is $19.63 per hour to $22.30 per hour (step 4) depending upon qualifications. Trempealeau County’s compensation plan considers annual wage step increases. A comprehensive benefit package is offered to county employees including health insurance, flex spending account, dependent care reimbursement, pension plan, deferred compensation, dental, vision, short-term disability, life insurance, critical illness insurance, cancer insurance, accident insurance and paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
