Are you a motivated self-starter who enjoys working outdoors and cooperatively with others? If so, Monroe County’s Land Conservation Department might be the right fit for you. We’re hiring for a full-time Soil & Water Conservationist. Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Resource Management, Soil Science, Watershed Management, or another natural resource-related field. An understanding of agricultural practices with strong GIS mapping skills are preferred. Also helpful is the ability to utilize computer aided design (CAD) software.
Our Soil & Water Conservationist provides technical assistance to the residents of Monroe County in the form of resource inventory, conservation planning, design and installation of conservation practices. Works with a variety of Federal, State & County programs (Farmland Preservation Program-FLP, Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program-CREP, Environmental Quality Incentives Program-EQIP, Etc.) to address resource issues. Starting salary for this position is: $42,706-$48,530 annually depending on qualifications and experience.
