PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to provide Trempealeau, Buffalo and Pepin Counties with the knowledge regarding older adults, dementia, dementia care and support, family and informal caregiving needs as well as challenging behaviors. This position is unique in the aspect that it will serve all three counties although Trempealeau County will be the primary office and employer. The Dementia Care Specialist Social Worker will also provide community development, marketing and public outreach for the ADRC Services. This position would work with community partners to help connect the community to the ADRC Services and local volunteer services. The work is performed under the direction of the Trempealeau County ADRC/Senior Services Supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor of Arts or Science degree is required, in the health or human services related field, preferably in Social Work. At least one year of full-time paid experience working directly with multiple people with dementia and family/informal caregivers (e.g., providing direct care, caregiver support, support group facilitation, residential care management, and home care). Expertise and knowledge regarding older adults, dementia, dementia care and support, family and informal caregiver needs, and challenging behaviors. Skills and experience in facilitating small group learning and discussion programs. Experience with family caregivers of people with dementia and family dynamics. The ability to provide culturally competent services and supports. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel for community events and to make home visits. Wisconsin Social work certification is required within two years of hire. Temporary or Training Social Worker certification required upon hire.
COMPENSATION / BENEFITS:
The 2021 annual salary for this full-time (80 hours-biweekly), exempt position is $47,236 to $64,376 (step 20). The expected starting annual salary is $47,236 to $53,664 (step 4), depending upon qualifications. Trempealeau County’s compensation plan considers annual wage step increases.
