Job Summary
This is an advanced social services aide position that works directly with clients and CPS case managers. This position will require the ability to work individually and with small groups of clients on tasks including but not limited to; money management, parenting skills, personal hygiene, nutrition, housing, safety services, and supervising family interactions. This is a Family Support Specialist position to help children and families involved in the child welfare system.

Essential Duties
Arrange initial family interaction visits when children are placed outside of the family home.

Provide Transportation to and from family interaction, community visits, or medical appointments when necessary.

Provide in-home parenting education to families.

Provide budgeting assistance to families.

Provide help in locating housing and filing out housing applications with families.

Provide assistance in the area of home maintenance to families.

Provide education and assistance in meal planning and nutrition.

Be willing to teach parenting classes such as the nurturing parenting or Trauma Informed Parenting to families both in the home and in group settings.

Work with families on creating behavior management plans for children in their home.
Provide assistance to families in locating employment and filing out employment applications.

Help families locate and access community resources.

Help empower families to advocate for their children’s needs in the school systems.

Other job duties as assigned by supervisor.

Performs related functions as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required
Education and Experience:
High school diploma with an associate’s degree in a human services field preferred, along with two years related experience in the area of child development and behavior.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.

Knowledge of human behavior.

Knowledge of and ability to utilize a computer and the required software.

Ability to plan and organize work to make effective use of time.

Ability to accept new ideas and ways of accomplishing purposes with understanding ofneed to deal with existing system.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to work the required hours of the position.
