Chippewa County is currently accepting applications for open Seasonal Operator II positions within the Highway Department. The job duties of the seasonal Operator II include but are not limited to: provide highway/bridge maintenance & construction, construction & maintenance materials handling, sand & gravel mining activities, highway facilities maintenance, and provide responsive, courteous and efficient service to County residents and the general public. A seasonal Operator II may be assigned, initially, to only one area; however, as length of service increases, an Operator II will be expected to perform work in other areas as needed. Winter maintenance activities may be required for this position. This is a seasonal employment opportunity that is an average of 40 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Additional training in the trades may be preferred such as ability to read plans and handle hand tools. One (1) year experience in heavy equipment operation on a periodic basis such as a grader, municipal plow trucks, forklift/loader and tractors preferred. Road maintenance experience preferred. Class A CDL without restrictions E and L required. MSHA certification for work in mines preferred. Visit www.co.chippewa.wi.us to view the full position description and other job requirements.

Starting Wage: $19.07 – $20.98 per hour depending on qualifications. This is a non-benefited position.
