Chippewa County is accepting applications for a seasonal Forest Maintenance Technician position within the Land Conservation and Forest Management Department. The job duties of the Forest Maintenance Technician include but are not limited to provide professional forestry tasks required to maintain quality experiences for recreational trail use by residents and tourists including prompt response to storm damage and debris; ensure proper installation and maintenance of BMP’s for water quality to minimize adverse environmental impacts of recreational trail use and timber harvesting operations; support and augment the efforts of individual volunteers and user groups.

This position is expected to work approximately 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, for a duration of 6-7 months from approximately April – November.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma and two (2) years related work experience; or welding, metal fabrication, and construction experience preferred. Valid driver’s license required and a class A CDL may be required within 6 months of hire. A cell phone is required. Starting Wage: $16.46 – $18.11 per hour depending on qualifications. This is a non-benefited position. Maximum Wage: $22.64 per hour.
