Brown County is looking to hire RNs to assist clients and residents with activities of daily living, provide nursing care, active treatment and be part of maintaining a therapeutic environment.

This position offers a competitive starting wage of $31.52 per hour and up to $34.25 for some positions. We also offer a $2.00 and $3.00 shift differential for PM and Night shifts. $2.00 shift differential for PM shift and $3.00 shift differential for Nights

Full Time
40 Hours Per Week- AM and PM (Psych Unit) AM and Night Shift (Nursing Home)

Executes the Human Services mission, goals, objectives, and standards of performance, policies and procedures in the delivery of nursing services.

Essential Duties
HOSPITAL (Specific)

When assigned, in conjunction with emergency authorities and the Crisis Center triages emergency and voluntary admissions for the hospital.

Completes admission-screening forms.

Coordinates medical clearance or completes medical screening at time of admission.

Ensures that EMTALA requirements are met for walk-ins.

NURSING HOME (Specific)

When assigned, schedules the workforce for unexpected absences or necessary coverage.

Coordinates Emergency Protective Placement referrals in the absence of administration.

CBRF (Specific)

Assists in the care and supervision and provision of activities of daily living of residents. Provides leadership in leisure activities, group counseling, medication management, case management and other therapeutic activities as directed.

Maintains communication with crisis teams and inpatient treatment staff as needed.

Knowledge in crisis intervention technique maintains resident’s health and safety as a primary concern.

Maintains knowledge of all Crisis CBRF policies and standards, including admission paperwork and maintains a homelike environment.

Carries out tasks designed in the treatment/crisis plan including documentation of client’s progress.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES PERTINENT TO ALL INPATIENT DIVISIONS INCLUDING NURSING HOME, HOSPITAL AND CBRF

Initiates and ensures policies, procedures, emergency, crisis and disaster procedures are followed.

Assigns and supervises nursing assistants and LPN’s on their tour of duty.

Completes admissions/discharges according to facility policies.

Observes, assesses, implements and documents nursing action in response to change in client behavior and/or condition.

Plans, implements and evaluates procedures that maintain safe client care.

Obtain and transcribes or countersigns physician orders.

Assists in completion of performance appraisals.

Inputs information into the EMR system.

Inputs MDS data in the nursing home.

Administers or directs the administration of medications and treatments.

Provides and directs resident/client information.

Initiates and contributes to discharge planning.

Participates in orientation of new personnel.

Completes incident reports and immediately notifies Administration of any allegations of abuse or peer-to-peer aggression.

Performs related functions as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. One (1) year experience as staff RN, one (1) year of experience in mental health/AODA fields preferred but, not required. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.

Licenses and Certifications:
Current RN license from Wisconsin or, one of Wisconsin’s compact states.
CPR certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge and understanding of the terminology, theory, techniques and practices of professional
nursing.

Knowledge of a variety of medications along with their side effects, side actions and
contraindications.

Knowledge of basic abnormal behaviors and major mental illnesses.

Knowledge of alcohol and other drug abuse dynamics, programs and treatment methods.

Knowledge of adult medical problems and treatment approaches.

Ability to initiate, maintain and implement an Integrated Care Plan.

Ability to analyze symptoms and conditions and apply sound nursing principles in making decisions.

Ability to maintain appropriate client caseload.

Ability to deal with stress associated with threatening and/or unpredictable client behavior.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff and the public.

Ability to accept and adapt to change.

Ability to understand and carry out policies and procedures governing patient care.

Ability to demonstrate leadership skills to direct and coordinate health team members.
