Part-Time Secretary III – UW Extension
Extension Brown County is a partnership between Brown County and University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension. This position develops and coordinates marketing and communication functions for Extension Brown County. Focus of position is to create marketing materials for educational programs and events, marketing programs and events on various platforms and update social media on a regular basis while increasing number of individuals using Extension’s sites. In addition, performs administrative support to Extension including but not limited to maintaining financial records of Extension, prepares annual budget, provides leadership to Extension support staff, and uses individual judgement, and initiative; applies specialized knowledge in performing duties regarding established procedures, laws and regulations; performs related work as required.
Applies specialized knowledge of the department in which employed.
Evaluate and improve office communication strategies based on needs of intended audiences.
Create marketing strategies tailored to specific audiences.
Ability to work with educators to design and edit content for marketing materials i.e. including but not limited to fliers, brochures, displays, newsletters, reports, videos, print and social media to support non-formal community education for diverse audiences.
Market educational programs and events on various platforms.
Update social media on a regular basis while increasing number of individuals using Extension’s social media sites.
Develop and implement plan to increase branding of Extension Brown County.
Receives telephone calls and visitors and answers various inquiries providing information on departmental services and functions.
Ensures office financial records are up to date, including receipts payments, issues receipts, accounts for monies, handles and prepares deposits, enters invoices into New World accounting system, issues purchase orders, tracks spending and orders office supplies.
Tracks grant funds and related paperwork received by Extension.
Assists in preparation of Extension budget.
Completes required county financial reports.
Compiles data and prepares various reports.
Maintains confidentiality of department operations as applicable.
Completes necessary paperwork to hire staff. Maintains hiring records for department.
Trains and instructs employees regarding office procedures.
Accomplishes work related to the successful implementation of Extension Programs by Extension staff.
Performs related functions as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Education and Experience:
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in office administration, marketing, communications, graphic design, or related field, or three years of office experience relating to managing finances or marketing/communications; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.

Experience with marketing, communications, graphic design and use of social media.
Strong computer skills with knowledge of internet, Microsoft Suite, and design software.
Knowledge of financial management practices.
