I. Position Summary
This position description has been prepared to assist in evaluating duties, responsibilities, and skills of the position. It is not intended as a complete list of specific responsibilities and duties, nor is it intended to limit duties to those listed. This is a maximum of 20 hours per week position with Vernon County.
This position shall assume and deliver all responsibilities and duties as coordinator of the Opioid and Abatement Funds received by Vernon County. This position provides a variety of case management, coordination of services, collaboration within Vernon County depts and outside agencies, and coordinate, facilitate, and report to the Opioid Prevention and Abatement Steering Committee. This position, while under the moderate supervision of other personnel, must be able to work independently, use independent judgment, be self-directed and motivated, and accept responsibility.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Serves as the program coordinator of Vernon County’s Opioid and Abatement Funds.
• Responsible for reporting to necessary entities on the use of funds received from the National Opioid Settlement
• Responsible for administration of the Vernon County Opioid Settlement Grant Program
• Document confidential information to coordinate services
• Interviews consumers and family members to assist in determining eligibility for services and providing referral information.
• Assists in maintaining case records and reports.
• Reviews monthly expenses/claims, prepares consumer information for data entry
• Will coordinate, facilitate, and report to the Opioid Prevention and Abatement Steering Committee.
• Ensures that committee members and stakeholders remain properly informed about the programs’ progress and needs
• Reviews and follows policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and County laws and regulations.
• Reports to work when scheduled and maintains good attendance.
• Works effectively and professionally with clients, public, vendors, co-workers, employers, attorneys, law enforcement, etc. This may mean travel off premises.
• Attends State and County training sessions, conferences, and meetings.
• Receives, sorts, and prioritizes mail, telephone calls and emails.
• Performs routine clerical tasks such as sorting, recording, and typing as required.
• Maintains and files correspondence and reports.
• Writes internal policies/procedures when appropriate for programs in the unit.
• Contacts State offices and other professionals to maintain compliance with programs.
• Develops new resources, financial and/or service delivery systems.
• Provides outreach services, including speaking engagements to community groups regarding the services available through the Opioid and Abatement Funds with Vernon County.
• And all other duties assigned by the unit supervisor.
III. Related Job Functions
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with coworkers, the public, community resources, county and governmental officials, and others.
• Responsible for working safely and following safety practices and standards of the facility; responsible for reporting and/or correcting any existing or potential safety or accident hazard.
• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and participate in workshops, seminars, etc., to keep abreast of current changes in the field.
• Maintains consumer rights and confidentiality of consumer information.
• Performs related work as required or directed.
IV. Physical Demands
50% of time is spent outside of an office setting, 50% is spent in the office. A large percentage of time, 75%, is spent talking, listening, and hearing. Approximately half the time, 50% is spent sitting and using near and far vision. 25% – computer usage. Stands, walks, climbs (using hands and legs), and reaches intermittently throughout the day. In unusual situations it is necessary to stoop, kneel, bend/twist. Low and medium handling and lifting, low to medium pushing and pulling. There is the threat of physical attack or injury from consumers/animals in unusual situations. Uses automobiles, telephones, copy machines, computers, fax machine, camera, and television/DVD and other equipment as necessary. Uses independent judgment. Involves potential and/or direct exposure to blood or body fluids.
V. Education and Training Requirements
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum bachelor’s degree in a human service discipline, such as Social Work, Sociology, or Psychology. Minimum of one year of human services related work experience is preferred.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with adequate auto insurance to meet minimum County requirements, or access to reliable transportation for city and rural travel.
