Description
Performs difficult skilled technical work managing the shop facility, safeguarding and managing the inventory of parts and equipment, perform fleet management and fleet software maintenance; orchestrate auction of vehicles and equipment, troubleshoot, maintains, repair and rebuild vehicles and equipment; welding and fabricating; and other functions as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Solid Waste Superintendent of Operations.

Examples of Duties
Manages the shop facility; oversees the equipment and parts inventory; prioritizes vehicle and equipment repairs.

Performs fleet maintenance; preventative maintenance; performs cost/benefit analysis when work has to be contracted.

Prepares, reviews, and approves work orders and prioritizes pre-checks requiring work being performed on the rolling stock and equipment.

Recovers and repairs vehicles and other site equipment needing repair, maintenance, welding, and fabrication.

Responsible for listing and managing public auctions for equipment and vehicles.

Keeps abreast of training on safety procedures and assures timely repair of vehicles and equipment.

Performs cost/benefit on new vehicles and equipment.

Assists in landfill and material recovery facility operations, as needed.

Performs public relations, as needed.
