Typical hours for this role are 1st shift Monday – Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. The position also requires some overtime and participation in the emergency call in rotation which is typically Wednesday to Wednesday approximately every 4 to 6 weeks.

Reporting to the Facilities Director, the Maintenance Technician performs skilled work at the journeyman level for the maintenance and repair of machinery, buildings and equipment including electrical, building security, plumbing and HVAC work.

The ideal candidate will be able to perform skilled work in one or more of several trades which include electrical/electronics, security systems, plumbing, HVAC and building automation controls.

Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot and make minor adjustments and repairs to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security and other building systems.
Tests, troubleshoots, maintains, and evaluates buildings and equipment.
Performs skilled maintenance activities.
Operate pickup trucks with snow plows and light snow removal equipment.
Other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements:
Two years’ experience in building or plant maintenance work and strong skills in at least one of the following: electrical/electronics, HVAC and/or pneumatic controls. Journeyman or Electro/ Mechanical trade certification preferred but not required.
Or, any combination of education and experience which provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
This position does require successful completion of a Post Offer Pre Employment Examination (POPE).
Candidate must pass all county and federal background checks and fingerprint checks as a condition of employment.

Required or Preferred Skills:
Understanding of basic electronics related to computerized building maintenance systems and ability to troubleshoot and program these systems.
Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices used in at least two of the building, electrical or mechanical trades.
Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved.
Ability to work both independently and as a team.
