Maintenance Mechanic (Airport Airfield)
Job Summary
Performs skilled maintenance work in the preventative maintenance, alteration, repair and cleaning of buildings, grounds and equipment.
Essential Duties
Performs skilled maintenance work in one or more trades.
Performs carpentry and minor masonry work, including building forms, pouring, and finishing concrete flat work.
Performs minor AC electrical and plumbing repairs.
Maintains and performs both minor and major repairs on small engines.
Operates and maintains industrial ground equipment (i.e. large snowplows, snow blowers, lawnmowers, power broom, front loader and heavy trucks)
Empties and transports garbage to designated areas; unloads freight.
Operates firefighting equipment as needed.
Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and other technical specifications, as well as schematics for hydraulic repairs.
Paints or assists in painting of airfield (i.e. runways, taxiways, etc.) in accordance to Federal Aviation Regulations.
Prepares and maintains required reports and forms.
Creates and assists in budget preparation for maintenance operation as well as creates specification sheets for new acquisitions.
Performs pavement repair and maintenance using multiple products.
Participates in snow removal operations as directed, responding on a twenty-four hour basis to the needs of the airport.
Performs skilled maintenance work in one or more trades.
Diagnoses and repairs automotive DC circuits, repairs and installs mobile radio systems.
Performs diagnostics, repairs and maintains automated building systems, including geothermal systems.
Performs duties associated with the requirements pertaining to regulated trash, in accordance with U S Customs and Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).
Performs complete paint and body repairs on vehicles and large equipment with modern paint systems.
Performs related functions as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, plus three years of maintenance experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License
Valid Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used for the preventative maintenance, alteration, repair, and cleaning of buildings and facilities.
Knowledge of standard practices in one or more trades.
Ability to use and care for all tools and equipment related to the job.
Ability to read, interpret and utilize blueprints and other technical specifications.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administration, staff, tenants and the public.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to operate heavy equipment (i.e. front loader, heavy snow plows).
Ability to work the required hours of the position.
Ability to successfully complete an FBI background check/security threat analysis and maintain unescorted access to the SIDA.
