Land Resource Technician Intern – Land Conservation & Forest Management
Chippewa County is accepting applications for a Land Resource Technician within the Department of Land Conservation & Forest Management. This can be a student or a recent graduate. This position is seasonal, non-recurring, and limited term and requires up to 40 hours per week during May – November 2024 for a commitment of 975 hours. Focus includes technical support for nonmetallic mine site reclamation and the stormwater management program.
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Must be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a higher education institution pursuing a degree in Soil Science, Conservation Science, Geology, Engineering, Reclamation Science, Agricultural or Plant Science, Water Resources, Geography, or other related course of study. Knowledge of cartography with exposure to mapping software, ArcGIS or similar software required. GPS survey experience preferred. Knowledge of soil science, geology, and plant science; construction excavation techniques and materials, and/or agricultural field operations preferred. Valid driver’s license required. Wage: $16.46 per hour. This is a non-benefited position.
Pending County Board Approval, Starting Wage Increase Effective 1/1/24: $21.64 per hour. This is a non-benefited position.
