Application Requirements & Details of Land Conservation & Planning Director

Primary duties for the Land Conservation & Planning Director include providing direct supervision to activities within the Land Conservation, County Parks, Land Management, Zoning, Emergency Management, Solid Waste & Recycling, Land Records, and Economic Development functions in Pepin County. This position collaborates with the Land Management and County Conservationist department heads. This position is responsible for the efficient operation of the department; formulation of policies and procedures; coordinating the activities of the department’s functional units; establishing and maintaining liaison with other department heads, governmental official and community groups.

Qualifications include: knowledge of management and supervisory principles and practices including program planning, budgeting, grants, community economics, geography, demography, community design, community organization, and other similarly related planning subject matter, local, state and federal rules, regulations, codes and ordinances pertaining to planning, land use, zoning and subdivision control; a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Conservation, Environmental engineering or related field. Three years’ recent management/supervisor/lead worker experience. A valid motor vehicle operator’s license required. Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and ability.

The starting 2021 wage scale for this exempt, salaried position is $72,696.00 – $83,075.20 annually. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday with a complete benefit package included.
