Highway Project Engineer II – Grading
Chippewa County is accepting applications for a Project Engineer II – Grading position within the Highway Department. The job duties of the Project Engineer II-Grading include but are not limited to supervise, oversee, direct and coordinate grading crew operations; to stake and layout highway construction projects; to inspect, document and measure quantities of work in progress and completed work; to complete employee and equipment time cards and crew reports; to make plan adjustments to meet in-field requirements and conditions.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a minimum of two (2) years recent experience in highway construction and design required; -OR- an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or closely related field with a minimum of six (6) years recent experience in highway construction and design required; -OR- a High School diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years recent supervisory experience and ten (10) years of recent experience in highway construction and design required. WisDOT Highway Technician Certification Program certifications in aggregate testing preferred. Certification in Aggregate Technician I and HMA-Production Testing required to be obtained within one (1) year of hire. MSHA certification for work in mines required within six (6) months of hire. Starting Wage: $31.80 – $35.33 per hour depending on qualifications plus an excellent fringe benefit package. Maximum Wage: $42.40 per hour.
