Chippewa County is accepting applications for an Operator IV – Finish Grader position within the Highway Department. The job duties of the Operator IV – Finish Grader include the ability to use a variety of heavy equipment for the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges. This position will be assigned to the Bridge & Culvert crew during the construction season. Winter maintenance activities will be required for this position.

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Class A CDL without restrictions E and L required and N-Tanker Endorsement required within 6 months from date of full-time hire. MSHA certification for work in mines preferred. Employer provided certification to be obtained within 12 months of full-time hire. A minimum three (3) years’ experience in heavy equipment operation on a routine basis with experience operating a motor grader required. Must be able to operate a variety of equipment relating to construction and maintenance of roads and bridges. Road maintenance experience preferred. Starting Wage: $22.50 – $24.30 per hour depending on qualifications plus an excellent fringe benefit package. Maximum Wage: $30.38 per hour.

Pending County Board Approval, Starting Wage Increase Effective 1/1/24: $25.76 – $28.00 per hour. Maximum Wage: $33.60 per hour.
