Are you a proven leader who has experience with road construction and maintenance? If so, Monroe County’s Highway Department might have the job for you! We’re hiring for a full-time Operations Manager.

Our Operations Manager is responsible for assisting with planning, directing, managing, and supervising all aspects of the County’s highway infrastructure and related assets to include: road and bridge construction and maintenance on state and county highways; project development and emergency response; providing leadership over assigned department personnel involving work assignments, operations, project development and related work under the general direction of the Highway Commissioner.

Successful candidates will have:
• Graduation from High School/equivalent
• Post-secondary education equivalent to an associate degree in construction management or related field
• Minimum of ten years’ increasingly responsible experience in highway and bridge maintenance, repair and construction. An equivalent combination of higher education, training in lieu of experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered
• Minimum of five years’ experience in a supervisory position
• Possession of valid, unrestricted, Wisconsin Class A CDL (air-brake and manual transmission qualified), tanker (N) endorsement.
• Certifications must be obtained within one year of employment:
o Traffic Control Supervisor
o Traffic Incident Management Training
o Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) Miner
o U.S. D.O.T. Drug & Alcohol Supervisor Training
