Mechanic – Marquette County

Marquette County is seeking applicants for a full-time Mechanic position within the Highway Department. The mechanic position is responsible for the all-around work, repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines on all trucks, loaders, tractors, graders or any other county highway department equipment. Must perform preventative maintenance programs on all highway equipment and complete associated work orders. Other required skills include welding, torch work, knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, and electronics. Individuals shall supply own tools and toolboxes to perform the majority work involved with the highway department. A complete job description is available on the Marquette County website.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional certificate for mechanic training from college or technical school and a valid Class A unrestricted CDL with air brake and tanker endorsement is preferred. A minimum three years of mechanical experience. Continued training will be required for repair of emission systems, tires, air conditioning recharging, computer programs, and other job-related duties. Starting wage for this position depending on education and experience for the year 2022 is within the $22.29 to $26.22 range.
