Job Description:

Oneida County is accepting applications to fill a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Forester I position with the Forestry Department. This position assists with management of the county’s timber resources, which includes timber sale establishment/administration and timber reconnaissance. Additionally, this position provides assistance to the recreational trail programs including snowmobile, all-terrain vehicle (ATV) / utility terrain vehicle (UTV), ski/bike/snowshoe trails and parks. Position generally works weekdays but some nights and weekends may be required. The starting 2022 salary for this position is $41,650 to $47,600 plus excellent fringe benefit package.

Qualified individual must have a High School diploma or equivalent, an Associates or Bachelors Degree in Forestry and at least six month’s field forestry experience including forest stand reconnaissance, timber sale establishment and/or timber sale administration. Knowledge and/or experience with recreational clubs (snowmobile, ATV, Ski/Bike), trails, functions, management and grant writing is preferred but not required. Candidates must have a valid WI Driver’s license, have the ability to move around and work in the woods, be able to operate recreational vehicles, be able to work in extreme weather conditions, be able to stand for extended periods of time and routinely life 50 pounds or more.
