Oneida County is accepting applications to fill a Forester I position with Oneida County Foresty and Recreation Department. This full-time (37.5 hr/wk) position has a 2021 annual starting salary of $40,695 to $46,508 based on previous education and experience, plus benefits package.
Job duties include serving as lead for administration of the recreational trail programs and assisting in the maintenance and development of forest and recreational-based infrastructure through operation of heavy equipment and power tools. This position also assists with management of the county’s timber resources, including sales, logging jobs and planning/development of various forest and recreation based projects and programs. Position will require field work and office work as assigned.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Forest or Recreation Management or related, and at least 6 months of field forestry or recreation management experience; other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Some job duties may require completion on nights and weekends. Physical work demands may include climbing, bending, twisting and walking long distances over uneven terrain in unfavorable weather conditions.
