Environmental Health Specialist II/Sanitarian
Starting Pay Range: $26.97
The full-time (35 hr/week) Environmental Health Specialist II/Sanitarian is responsible for conducting environmental inspections and investigations in the areas of food safety, lodging, swimming pools, campgrounds, recreational facilities, etc. at various locations throughout Taylor County, investigating environmental health concerns, enforcing state statute, local ordinances, and other regulations related to environmental health and safety, collecting and analyzing various environmental health samples, managing state-based contracts, coordinating programs/services, and providing consultation to staff and other partners in environmental health matters.
Applicant must possess a bachelor’s degree in environmental health, biology, bacteriology, microbiology, or related field and two years’ practical community-based environmental/public health experience. Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. National Environmental Health Association (REHS/RS) certification and driver’s license are required. Ability to obtain Lead Risk Assessor certification and Radon Measurement and Mitigation certification within three months of hire is required.
