Sawyer County is hiring for an Elected Official Deputy in our County Clerk and County Treasurer’s Office
The purpose of this position is to assist the County Treasurer with compliance to Wisconsin State Statute 59.25. Duties of the County Treasurer’s office include, but are not limited to: receive all moneys from all sources belonging to the County; pay out all moneys which are obligations of the County; collect amount of County taxes collected by municipal treasurers; keep books of receipt and expenditures of all moneys which come into and are paid from the Treasurer’s Office; furnish the Department of Revenue completed tax role settlement sheets; and all other duties required of the Treasurer by law or by County directive.
The Elected Officials Deputy will support both the County Clerk and County Treasurer’s office, sharing some duties while still maintaining separate statutory requirements for separation of some processes as assigned. These duties may include: processes bills for payment; processes licenses; assists in election preparation and reporting, completes receipts from all departments; receipts tax payments made by mail and in person; assists with telephone, mail, and in-person inquires for the departments. This position serves as a back-up to the County Clerk and County Treasurer positions.
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma is required. An associate degree in office administration or a related field is preferred. Two or more years’ experience in an office setting is required.
Experience and abilities necessary to perform the job include, but are not limited to:
Meticulous detail for proper processing of payments, receipts, records and reports.
Considerable knowledge of government operations and regulations in order to provide information to the public, issue permits and licenses, and process voter registrations.
Mathematical abilities including percentages, fractions and decimals.
Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills
Excellent communication skills to serve and assist the public.
Competitive wage and benefit package includes health insurance, Wisconsin Retirement System, life insurance, sick and vacation leave, and holiday pay. Beginning wage is $21.69/hour.
