Deputy Sheriff/Recreational Officer
Waushara County is currently accepting applications for a full-time Deputy Sheriff/Recreational Officer . This position enforces all Federal, State and local laws, Waushara County Recreational Trail ordinances, Parks and Recreational ordinances, snowmobile, ATV and boating regulations and traffic incidents. This person is also responsible for the investigation and management of crime scenes related to this assignment. This is a law enforcement position with full arrest powers. Work is performed in accordance with prescribed regulations, Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures and Civil Service Rules. His/her work is reviewed by a supervisor through conferences, reports and performance reviews. Persons in this classification protect life and property enforces Federal, State laws, county laws and ordinances specifically related to use of county lands and waterways, as well as those duties normally assigned a Deputy Sheriff. The work is performed under the direction of the Patrol Lieutenant, and the general supervision of the Waushara County Sheriff and Chief Deputy. Position will require the ability to use all standard police equipment. Ability to handle stressful situations. Applicants must successfully complete a test, oral examination, physical agility test, mental exam, extensive background investigation, physical exam with drug screen. Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License. Eligible for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification.
