Job Description:

Reporting to the Custodial Supervisor, keeps assigned areas of building interiors clean and orderly, and performing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance of buildings, equipment, and grounds.

The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 3:30 pm-Midnight.

Key Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Performs heavy cleaning work, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping waxes, buffing floors, washing walls, windows, and woodwork, dusting and polishing furniture, cleaning restrooms and replenishing supplies.
Operates related equipment including manual and automatic floor scrubber, rug shampoo machines, wet/dry vacuum, hand held polishers, automatic disinfecting spray machines, etc.
Arranges and moves furniture to accommodate meetings, assisting in giving directions to meeting room location, and ensuring that the buildings are open for meetings and locked up at the close of the day.
Maintains supplies and equipment used.
Performs routine building checks to determine possible vandalism or symptoms of heating, ventilating or cooling equipment malfunctions, reporting the same.
Collects recyclable materials from various locations and deposits in appropriate container.
Assists with removal of snow and ice using shovels and other hand tools.
Assists with lawn care and landscaping requirements.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance, works overtime/extra hours as required.
Ability to communicate effectively with Maintenance Personnel, Department Heads, Supervisors, County Employees, and Visitors.
Ability to safely drive the County van and trucks to outlying facilities for custodial duties and for deliveries and parts pickup with a valid driver’s license.
Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, sanitize door knobs, push plates, light switches, and all high touch point surfaces.
Performs painting projects as directed, using appropriate equipment, techniques, and safety procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements:
High School graduate or G.E.D., custodial experience preferred.
Or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
Experience with automatic floor scrubbers, burnishing machines, carpet extractors, and knowledge of stripping and waxing floors preferred.
This position does require successful completion of a Post Offer Pre Employment Examination (POPE).
Wisconsin Driver’s License is required.

Required or Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to conform to goals, policies, and procedures of the Department as well as the Outagamie County Work Rules and Terms of Employment.
Knowledge of and skill in using cleaning products, and assorted tools and equipment.
Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets.
Knowledge of preventative maintenance and repairs.
Ability to keep simple records in various formats such as corrective and preventative maintenance sheets as required.
Ability to walk, stoop, climb, bend, stretch, push, pull and lift or otherwise move weights up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 80 pounds occasionally understanding and utilizing proper body mechanics.
May operate a light truck or other vehicle then would need to possess a valid driver’s license.
Ability to safely operate small power equipment such as lawnmowers, riding mowers, edgers, trimmers, etc.
Ability to follow written and oral direction and work semi-independently.
Ability to understand and efficiently use various computer programs including but not limited to Outlook, Tyler, Facility Dude, REACT and WMMIC programs through the use of an IPad.
