Community Health Specialist – Health Planner

Oneida County Health Department is recruiting for a full-time (37.5 hours/week) Community Health Specialist.
Role: The Community Health Specialist will be working to engage internal and external public health stakeholders in the development, maintenance, execution and evaluation of various departmental plans that address the health needs of our community and enhance operational processes of the department.
The Community Health Specialist will promote individual and population health by leading community health planning initiatives. This includes facilitating and developing a community health assessment in collaboration with other department staff, hospital systems, community stakeholders, elected officials, community members and other agencies and organizations. This also includes implementation and evaluation of the community health improvement plan.
The Community Health Specialist will seek out revenue sources and conduct frequent and ongoing grant applications to support efforts to address public health priorities.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, Nursing or related field with 1-3 years of experience. Knowledge of computerized information systems and data analysis. Skills in critical analysis, problem-solving, priority-setting, and group facilitation.
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in public health. Knowledge of local, state, and federal public health programs and planning activities.
Compensation and Benefits: This full time position has a starting hourly wage of $25.02 to $27.16 based on experience plus fringe benefit package including Health, Dental, Life and Income Continuation Insurances, plus PTO (Paid Time Off) with the ability to carry over unused hours into future years.
