The Portage County Information Technology department is hiring a Business System Support Analyst to join their team!

What are the primary job duties?

Participates in discussions to review user requirements and assess needs for new software.
Researches and implements programs and procedures necessary to integrate new systems. Test systems fully to determine their operational reliability.
Maintains assigned applications. Monitors the operation of assigned systems, and responds to problems by troubleshooting and diagnosing errors in application software.
Creates and modifies system workflow as required by rules and regulations.
Performs applicable application training.
Performs data conversion when implementing new systems.
Performs software installations and upgrades by installing, testing, and deploying applications.
Integrate and test components and/or subsystems to support interfaces to create operational services.
Provides upper-level production support for software systems by analyzing, recreating, and resolving reported problems.
Provides technical advice and support to users.
Uses available resources gathered from peers and vendor support staff to make recommendations or system changes.
Creates ad-hoc reports to meet various needs.
Acts as liaison between County departments and vendors to ensure that end user and organizational needs are met, including the submission of and follow-up work requests for services.
Enhances professional growth by attending technical conferences and seminars, participating in educational programs, and keeping abreast of current technology developments.
Assists in the care and maintenance of department facilities, equipment, and supplies.
Adheres to established policies and procedures, objectives, programs, and safety standards.
Answers telephone and responds to or routes messages as necessary in a complete and courteous manner.
May work on more complex programs under the direction of higher-level staff or supervisor.
Assists with software and equipment budgeting, pricing, and acquisition.
Provides documentation for software features and experiences.
Performs analysis of systems to fit business needs.
Attends departmental and Application Support meetings.
Keeps all help desk tickets updated.

What are the minimum job requirements?

Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related field.
3-5 years of experience in a system support role.
Experience in the software development process including requirements definition, prototyping, design, understanding and defining interfaces/interoperability, testing, and release.
Microsoft Windows Server experience.
Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with DB2, mySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server preferred.
Understanding of SQL commands, tables, and SQL Management Studio.
Experience with ERP systems.
Power9 systems experience desirable.
Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must pass FBI criminal background check which will be conducted by the Portage County Sheriff’s department. Must not have any felony convictions.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to insured vehicle for work-related travel.
