Do you have an interest in environmental science and a desire to assist with the reduction, reuse, and disposal of solid waste? If so, Monroe County has the job for you. We are hiring for a full-time Assistant Solid Waste Manager to work under the supervision of our Solid Waste Manager. Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, resource management or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be obtained. Strong computer skills with knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting practices is desired.

Our Assistant Solid Waste Manager assists with the development of long term management plans and serves as liaison for the Solid Waste Committee to municipal and private users of the solid waste system and contracted operators. This role coordinates the reduction, reuse, and disposal of solid waste in an efficient, economical, and environmentally sound method. The Assistant Solid Waste Manager also provides support through recordkeeping, data entry, bookkeeping, receptionist and clerical functions, and general custodial duties.

Starting salary for this position is $40,000 – $46,000 annually. Monroe County offers an exceptional benefits package to include health with vision, dental, term life, Wisconsin Retirement System, and more.
