Are you licensed to practice law in the state of Wisconsin and have an interest in the public sector? If so Monroe County’s Corporation Counsel Dept. is looking for a full-time and a part-time (20 hrs/wk) Assistant Corporation Counsel. Successful candidates will have a degree from a recognized, certified school of law and be licensed to practice law in state of Wisconsin. One year in practice of law is preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Our Assistant Corporation Counsels provide general legal counsel to the county and its departments. These positions will demonstrate quality research and writing skills including work on appellate briefs. Our full-time position will assist in things like representing and advising the Department of Human Services in relation to Child in Need of Protection and Services (CHIPS) cases; termination of parental rights, guardianship of minors, and adoption cases; and on cases in regards to vulnerable adults, mental health, and alcohol commitments. Our part-time position will primarily represent and advise the Child Support Agency and provide statutory and contractual legal representation for child support and paternity cases.

Hiring salary is $72,000 – $77,500 annually. Monroe County offers an exceptional benefit package to include health with vision, dental, term life, and more.
