PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
The Area Nurse Manager shall assume the operational responsibility for the implementation of all therapeutic programming designed to meet client’s needs, assure regulatory compliance, and attaining the criteria necessary for Medicare RUGS and Medicaid Case Mix reimbursement for their designated area. Direct staff assigned to the area and develop and implement Center based in-service and staff development programs and assume overall responsibility for area wide operations and programming.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Oversees, coordinates and leads clinical and therapeutic programming for the assigned area of the Center. Manage and coordinate the implementation of all clinical and therapeutic programming. Direct, supervise and manage Licensed and Certified Nursing Staff with 24/7 responsibility for the area of the Center assigned. Exercise the duties and responsibilities of management as it relates to the hiring, managing and recommending termination of staff assigned to the area. Advises the Director of Clinical Services as to the status of clinical and therapeutic programming and make recommendations for the development of new programs. Serve as a resource to facility Administrators, Director of Clinical Services, and therapy staffs. Participate in the quality assurance and corporate compliance processes as a resource person for areas of study. Assist in facility preparations for the survey process and serve as a resource for staff in matters of regulatory compliance. Coordinate and implement all area wide in-service, continuing education, and staff development programs. Acts as liaison with the discharging entity and the administrator, Director of Clinical Services, RAC’s and Unit Professional Staff. Leads efforts to develop consistent clinical procedures connected to the daily delivery of services. Participates in the evaluation of and decision to purchase clinical software as it relates to these processes. Assist in the development, coordinate and hands on training of staff in regards to the admission, transfer and discharge processes. Maintain a strong working knowledge of current practices and market trends which could affect the Center’s standing in the region. Assumes on-call supervisory responsibilities for the facility as assigned. May perform other varied duties per facility need.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Registered Nurse with valid current license in the State of Wisconsin. Strong clinical assessment skills and working knowledge of skill nursing requirements and limitations. Ability to conduct an ongoing clinical monitoring and skillfully interact with other health care professionals. Strong working knowledge of the Center’s MOS processes and the ability to successfully incorporate a residents specific condition into this system in a manner which will be in compliance with all regulatory requirements while maximizing revenue potentials. Good knowledge of the principles and practices nursing home operation and willingness and ability to learn specific procedures.
