The starting wage is $17.65/hr. Full-time, benefits eligible.

Under the direct supervision of the General Government Director, this position is responsible for the provision of direct customer service to visitors and callers to the Polk County Government Center. Provides exceptional customer service and assistance to callers and visitors through a high-functioning knowledge of County departments, programs and services. Possesses strong computer, telephone and clerical skills consistent with those of a receptionist.
Essential Duties: These duties represent the typical duties and responsibilities assigned to this position but may not be inclusive of all tasks performed.

Responsible for comprehensive knowledge of County responsibilities and programs in order to answer general internal and external customer questions; ascertains the appropriate contact within a department, division or county, or refers to an outside source in an efficient, courteous and professional manner
Serve as main County receptionist in a professional and courteous manner.
Receive, prioritize and disseminate information to proper person or unit.
Provides general administrative and clerical support services to the County.
Maintain clean and organized reception and resource areas.
Secure meeting rooms as requested by staff.
Participate as a team member of the General Government Division to improve office efficiency and cooperatively solve problems
Cross train and provide backup to Administrative Staff in the Offices of Treasurer, Register of Deeds and County Clerk.

Education/Experience:
High School diploma with some post education; and
Associate Degree in secretarial or related field preferred with two (2) years work experience in related position or equivalent combination

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Possession of a current valid driver’s license or has access to a regular source of transportation.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: Work is sedentary in nature performed within the Government Center. Lifting requirement is 15 – 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Wrist and finger manipulation due to filing, compiling, calculating, or computer work. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to: computer, scanner, printer, keyboard, calculator, telephone, copy and fax machine. Additional physical/mental requirements that occur may not be listed above, but are inherent in performing the position’s essential functions.
