WCA County Ambassador Program (CAP Team)
Since 2010, members of the Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) County Ambassador Program, better known as its CAP Team, have been working alongside WCA’s Government Affairs Team to promote WCA’s legislative priorities before the Wisconsin State Legislature.
CAP Team members include county board chairs, county supervisors, county executives, county administrators/administrative coordinators, constitutional officers, department heads, department managers, etc. and play a critical role in educating members of the Legislature about the state-county partnership and the critical role counties play in ensuring strong, vital communities across the state. The efforts of the CAP Team have contributed to a number of legislative successes, including a $25 million increase in the Children and Family Aids allocation in the last state budget!
The CAP Team typically meets in Madison three times during the legislative session; however, with the current public health pandemic, the team will be conducting its business a bit differently in 2021.
The 2021-2022 Legislative Session will present challenges for all of us. Our success during the 2019-2020 session was built on the collective efforts of county officials working together on critical issues and we hope to see this success and partnership continue through the County Ambassador Program in 2021 and beyond.
