Governor Signs Razing Bill, 24 Others Into Law

WCA Grateful to Work of Senator Olsen and Representative Nygren on AB 415

On Friday, December 13, 2013, Governor Scott Walker signed into law an important county piece of legislation, AB 415, which changes the method by which a municipality may collect the costs of razing a building from a property owner.

Under this bill the county is no longer at risk to bear the cost of razing. Senator Luther Olsen (R-Ripon) and Representative John Nygren (R-Marinette) authored this bill, which passed the Senate on a 33-0 vote and Assembly on a voice vote. The bill is Wisconsin Act 87.

“We are grateful to Senator Olsen and Representative Nygren for their work on this critical county issue,” said WCA Government Affairs Director Kyle Christianson.  “AB 415 is yet another example of their ongoing dedication to the work of counties and their understanding of identifying problems and inequities and solving them.  In the end, this is a win for counties and the taxpayers.”

In addition, Governor Walker signed 24 other bills into law on December 13th in the Governor’s Office.
